A voice actor essentially works harder than a Hollywood superstar. It is quite tough for a voice actor to put feelings and emotions to what he is reading, all the while knowing that he’s not seen on screen. The voice actor must be able to empathize with the character that he portrays and make sure that he breathes life into the script. It is in this realm where voice over training is essential.

Voice over artists are able to learn the craft of voice acting and find good employment in this field by going through voice over training. There are 1000s of cartoon and animated TV shows, web shows, TV/radio advertisements, web videos, and movies being made regularly. Take note that about 20 to 30 characters make up the cast of a single movie or TV show. There are global opportunities galore for a voice actor.

Basic skills needed to join a voice over training course

Diction is one of the most vital tools of the trade. Perfect enunciation is required from the student, hence, it is necessary for him to go to speech classes to master his diction. Every voice over actor has two roles to fulfill – “lending voice” and “acting.” So, perfect diction is not enough to start voice over training – the student must also enroll in an acting course prior to joining the voice over course.

After the main training is over, students learn how to promote their skills, tap the appropriate contacts, and get voice over work. Instructors of the voice over program also assist them in creating a voice over demo, which would become part of their portfolio. An opportunity to experience working in a real studio is provided in a solid voice over training course for students. They also learn what the do’s and don’ts are whenever they are behind the microphone or in a sound booth.

Choosing a voice over training program

There are two facets to voice training. A commercial voice over course must be opted for by students who are interested in selling. Commercial voice overs are employed for selling. Some of the areas that require this type of voice overs are radio ads, TV advertisements, phone and other media features. Selling skills are also covered by a voice over course since all commercial voice overs sell a service or a product. This program does not cover acting skills. Students who are interested in showbiz must decide on a TV and movie voice over and dubbing course. Such courses require lip-synching, and so the voice over actor has to learn acting skills too.

On 31 January, IOC President Jacques Rogge participated in the Olympic Museum closing evening in Lausanne. The Olympic institution thus closed its doors for renovations until the end of 2013. However, thanks to a virtual Olympic Museum, visitors can (re)discover memories of The Museum since its inauguration, follow the evolution of the renovation work and projects, listen to interviews and watch videos.

On 2 February in Lausanne, President Rogge chaired the third meeting of the Working Group on Irregular and Illegal Betting in Sport. Some 50 representatives of governments, international public organisations, the sports movement and betting operators were present. At the end of this meeting, the participants approved a series of measures aimed at increasing awareness, improving monitoring, exchanging and analysing information, and strengthening existing legislation or encouraging the adoption of new legislation and regulations likely to combat this problem. Alongside this meeting, an agreement was signed between the IOC and the ARJEL, the French Regulatory Authority for Online Games.

The Pats beat Denver by 18 in Denver just a few weeks ago. The Houston Texans have taken early money as a sizable road underdog to the Baltimore Ravens, who play a similarly solid fundamental brand of football.
